The New Acute Hospital (NAH) will be one of the largest hospitals in Hong Kong with 2,400 beds, 37 operating theatres and a broad range of clinical services and facilities. The NAH is a designated trauma centre providing 24-hour Accident and Emergency unit, staffed and equipped to handle urgent cases, emergency conditions and major incidents.

The hospital layout is designed for functional efficiency and the convenience of patients and visitors. A multi-level atrium in the Acute Block is the central “hub” of the hospital. It houses admission, centralised waiting areas, and patient and visitor amenities. All buildings are connected by subways, multi-level bridges and landscaped decks. These also link the hospital to the local community and the waterfront promenade. Daylight and natural surroundings benefit the healing process and ease the stress of a hospital environment; many treatment rooms and waiting areas are daylight-illuminated. Landscaping, planted terraces and rehabilitation gardens feature are provided throughout the hospital.

Quickly build high-quality Light Public Housing with MiC

The Policy Address 2022 announced the construction of Light Public Housing (LPH)

The LPH Scheme will be led by the Architectural Services Department with the adoption of MiC. The Housing Bureau has selected eight sites in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, Kai Tak, Ngau Tau Kok and Chai Wai, providing around 30,000 LPH units. The construction period takes only one to two years. Each units equipped with self-contained toilet and basic facilities such as water heater and air-con. The first batch of around 2,100 units will be completed in 2024-25 and the remaining units will be completed by phases in 2025-26 and 2026-27, so as to shorten the waiting time of public housing.
